She Never Sleeps For Long

The Alaska Volcano Observatory has raised the alert level for Mt. Redoubt to Yellow after a night of seismic unrest.

Redoubt became very active earlier this year but then went back to sleep. Historically, the volcano erupts about every 10 years. It’s possible that Redoubt didn’t get the decade’s worth of unrest out of its system earlier this year.

These earthquakes could be precursory to renewed eruptive activity at the volcano and increased instability of the lava dome. Whether this will result in explosive activity or collapse of the lava dome is unknown at this time. However, there is a heightened possibility of volcanic activity that would produce a volcanic ash cloud and associated ash fall, pyroclastic avalanches, and lahars and flooding down the Drift River.

Maybe we’ll get a day home from work.

and nice sunsets. I remember pics from last time (maybe they were taken the time before & were just shown last time. whatever) and some of them were just gorgeous.
    Good luck, at any rate.
